Certain INSTRUCT family Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) may experience unexpected activation of a protection circuit. In some cases, such activation could cause main printed circuit board or DC bus capacitor damage. When a GDT activation occurs, a small puff of smoke may be discharged from the cooling vents and a loud bang may be heard.

The failure condition is limited to the following sizes:
• 75 HP to 400 HP, inclusive:
o INSTRUCT S10 Variable Speed Drive
o INSTRUCT S30 Variable Speed Drive
o INSTRUCT P10 Variable Speed Drive
o INSTRUCT P30 Variable Speed Drive

• 130 kVA to 397 kVA, inclusive:
o INSTRUCT E21 Variable Speed Drive
o INSTRUCT E30 Variable Speed Drive

**NO OTHER SIZE OR MODEL IS AFFECTED BY THIS ALERT**
The affected products use an Allen Bradley Frame 6 or Frame 7 PowerFlex 753 or PowerFlex 755 inverter system supplied by Rockwell Automation. Effected inverter modules contain a Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) that could activate unexpectedly.
